This is the third song from my developing second solo effort 'Bad Hair In The House Of The King' - it represents the end of a long creative drought. Lockdowns are good for something, right?!
Back in 2014 I released a full album under the name Anova Skyward, inspired by Dave Grohl's efforts on the first Foo Fighters album. You can hear that at anovaskyward.bandcamp.com - there's more under my new name ThumbOfRule at thumbofrule.bandcamp.com too.
I've always loved songs before drums, so while I'm a drummer I always have a melody in my head and a new chord progression pops out whenever I pick up a guitar.
I'll be releasing new songs as frequently as possible, eventually to be combined in a full album...
Thank you for listening.
lyrics
I took my first step back from the edge
Away from what I thought was giving me strength
Behind a sand wall where I could belong
All these decisions leading me on
You never listen hard enough - 'cause it's hard enough to choose
You never listen hard enough - 'cause it's hard enough to change
All the lights go out - waiting for a change
What was the question? What's in a name?
I walked out sightless into the rain
What made the difference? Well what do you say?
Maybe the answer's not worth the wait
We never listen hard enough - 'cause it's hard enough to choose
We never listen hard enough - 'cause it's hard enough to change
All the lights go out - waiting for a change
